Oxy, also known as Jhonathan Principe Mamani, is a Lima-based artist whose work explores the deep connection between humans and the natural world. Working across acrylic painting and digital mediums, his art blends observation, science, and imagination into a unified visual language rooted in life itself.
Currently studying biology, Oxy approaches his creative process through careful observation of nature. His work reflects an understanding that humans are not separate from their environment, but part of a living ecosystem—constantly interacting with plants, fungi, and insects. This perspective shapes both his subject matter and the meaning behind his compositions.
Rather than creating isolated pieces, Oxy develops his work in evolving stages and long-term concepts. His current focus centers on meditative figures—beings in states of calm, reflection, and connection. These works act as visual representations of the stillness and awareness he experiences when immersed in nature.
One of his most meaningful works, Contemplation, was created at a wildlife rescue center in Iquitos, Peru. Surrounded by the very animals he was painting, the experience deepened his connection to the subject and marked a turning point in his development into visionary art.
At its core, Oxy’s work invites viewers to slow down and reconnect—with nature, with stillness, and with the idea that we are part of something much larger than ourselves.
